The applicant must hold at least a valid Private Pilot’s Licence
2 Training requirements:
The training for a Night Rating does not have a formal ground school requirement , but does have specific minimum flight training requirements as outlined below.
10 hours instrument time
5 hours night flight time, including 2 hours cross country
5 hours solo, including 10 take-off, circuits and landings.
3 Testing requirements
There is no flight test or written exam requirement to qualify for a night rating. The rating is ordinarily issued on the strength of the recommendation signed by a qualified flight instructor on the Transport Canada Application for Endorsement of a Rating.
